Nucor has raised its hot-rolled coil (HRC) consumer spot price by $10 to $1,280 per short ton. The increase comes alongside a reported €20-per-metric-ton rise in ArcelorMittal's European HRC price for November delivery.

The announcements point to continued upward pressure on quoted HRC prices in two major steel markets. They do not, however, establish that buyers are paying the same increases: the effect on individual purchases will depend on the prices and terms agreed for each transaction.
For buyers assessing the changes, the quotes are not directly comparable. Nucor's price is stated in US dollars per short ton, while the European increase is in euros per metric ton and applies to November delivery. Further price announcements and transaction terms will help indicate whether the increases carry through to purchasing costs.
