Manufacturing steel demand softened overall in November 2026, with marked differences between sectors, according to survey data released by Mysteel on November 2. The steel structures sector performed relatively strongly, while raw material inventories declined across machinery, home appliances and automotive manufacturing.
In steel structures, raw material inventory rose 1.84% from the previous month, and daily raw material consumption increased 2.08%. Machinery recorded the largest inventory decline among the sectors highlighted.

The simultaneous rise in inventory and daily consumption points to stronger raw material use in steel structures, alongside a buildup in stock. In the other sectors, falling inventories indicate a different purchasing or stock-management pattern, although inventory changes alone do not establish how much production or steel consumption changed.
For suppliers, the survey suggests that aggregate manufacturing demand may obscure differences in orders from individual sectors. Subsequent changes in inventories and daily consumption will be important to watch: a sustained increase in consumption would carry a different demand signal from an inventory buildup alone.
